ABOUT COACHING
CONTACT CANDY
Candy comes from a lineage of helpers. Growing up in Minnesota gave her a deep love of water, forests, and outdoor adventures. As a girl she participated actively in scouting and especially loved to camp.

Taking Spanish in high school ignited Candy's interest in other cultures, which led to her living in Colombia, South America for 2 years. As a college student, a whole, new world opened up which resulted in a life long passion for adventure learning.

This passion led her to the Washington DC area where she raised 2 children Matt and Sarah.

Professionally, Candy has over 30 years of experience as a psychotherapist and educator. She earned her Masters in Social Work degree (MSW) from Virginia Commonwealth University and continued post-graduate education in Family Therapy, Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), and Addictions. She has worked in non-profits and local government for most of her career.

In the last 2 years Candy underwent training with MentorCoach to become a Life Coach. She finds that her previous style as a therapist fits nicely with the present-focused, strength-based, action-oriented philosophy of coaching. In fact, Candy has been using a coaching model for most of her professional life.

Candy is a member of the International Coach Federation and is pursuing certification with them. She has a special interest and affection for working with the following groups: baby boomers, college students, families, people in transition, and small business owners.

To balance the excitement of building her coaching business, Candy enjoys exploring the world, hiking, sailing, gardening, handicrafts, learning and being with family and friends.
